Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience in an international and commercial business environment.
Work experience within big 4 audit companies is a plus.
Qualified accountant (preferably holding a Master degree) or equivalent through experience and /or training.
Excellent knowledge and post qualification of (IFRS and Belgian) accounting (e.g. IAB or BIBF) is required.
The purpose of this role is to ensure accurate, compliant and timely corporate and group financial reporting by managing consolidation, and IFRS-related activities, leading general ledger operations, and providing expert accounting support to the Accounting Manager. The role exists to strengthen technical accounting quality, continuity, and reliability of financial reporting at group level.
The Senior Corporate Accountant is a member of the Finance Operations team, more specifically the accounting team. He or she :
- owns the group consolidation process, including intercompany eliminations and consolidation adjustments;
- has primary responsibility for IFRS compliance and related accounting judgments within corporate accounting;
- supports the Accounting Manager in ensuring, timely and compliant financial reporting;
- acts as a designated back-up to the Accounting Manager for corporate accounting activities;
- supports and contributes to the development of corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls;
- leads the external audits together with the Accounting Manager.
Accountabilities
Group Accounting and Consolidation:
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly and annual group consolidations;
- Ensure accurate intercompany reconciliations and eliminations;
- Maintain consolidation entries and ownership structures;
- Ensure statutory and group reporting processes;
- Governs quality of underlying consolidation processes and internal controls thereof.
IFRS & Technical Accounting
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and corporate accounting policies;
- Is accountable for preparation of yearly IFRS statements including notes and internal controls thereof;
- Prepare and review IFRS adjustments and disclosures;
- Ensure implementation of new IFRS standards and accounting changes (with support of external IFRS experts as needed);
- Act as a technical accounting point of contact within the accounting team.
General Ledger & Close activities
- Perform general ledger postings and reconciliations;
- Support monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes;
- Ensure balance sheet integrity and timely resolution of issues;
- Leads audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor queries, together with the Accounting Manager.
Support to the Accounting Manager
- Act as a back-up for the Accounting Manager during absence;
- Support coordination of accounting activities across entities;
- Contribute to process optimization, internal controls and documentation;
- Leads foreign VAT, tax compliance.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with the Finance team, controlling and external advisors;
- Provide accounting guidance to internal stakeholders as needed.
Who are we looking for ?
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, finance and/or equivalent through experience and/or training.
- Minimum 6-10 years of relevant accounting experience in an international and commercial business environment.
- Experience with consolidation and IFRS.
- Work experience within big 4 audit companies is a plus.
- Solid general ledger and financial close experience.
- Strong knowledge on group consolidation activities.
