Education

Qualified accountant (preferably holding a Master degree) or equivalent through experience and /or training.

Excellent knowledge and post qualification of (IFRS and Belgian) accounting (e.g. IAB or BIBF) is required.

Purpose of this role ?

The Senior Corporate Accountant role is to manage the Company’s corporate group accounting activities, including amongst others the intercompany group accounting, consolidation and (external) IFRS financial reporting.

Accountabilities

General accountabilities: 

  1. Consolidation (including intercompany reconciliation accounting);
  2. IFRS reporting (in close cooperation with the Accounting Manager);
  3. Audits by external auditor (in close cooperation with the Accounting Manager); and
  4. IFRS thought leader. 

1. Consolidation

• Is accountable for monthly consolidation (in accordance with IFRS).

• Governs quality of underlying consolidation processes and internal controls thereof.

• Seeks continues improvements and efficiency gains for consolidation activities.

• Responsible for consolidation (reporting) software tooling.

2. IFRS accounting

• Is accountable for preparation of yearly / half-yearly IFRS statements including notes and internal controls thereof.

• Takes the lead in preparation of IFRS/accounting position papers (with support of external IFRS experts).

• Monitors compliance to IFRS regulations, prepares standard operating procedures if required (with support of external IFRS experts).

• Monitors and seeks pro-actively education on relevant IFRS regulations (with support of external IFRS experts).

• Responsible for IFRS software reporting tooling (e.g. Smartnotes) and formal reporting to government authorities thereof (e.g. xbrl format).

3. External audits

• Takes the lead in the preparation and execution of yearly / half-yearly audits by external auditor for the consolidated IFRS accounts.

• Seeks alignment with external auditor on new IFRS/accounting positions or updates thereof.

• Responsible together with the chief accountant for relationship management with external audit team.

4. IFRS thought leader

• Provides updates on new regulations to finance team

• Go-to person for legal and business development in contract discussions

• Leads company education beyond finance on specific business relevant IFRS topics

Other: acts as a sounding board for other members of the accounting team and supports Accounting Manager in ongoing education of accounting team, supports company in IFRS forecasting exercises.
