Ed Esplin has served as Biocartis’ Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs since 24 February 2026, where he focuses on building a meaningful and productive medical affairs presence in the United States. Dr. Esplin is a board-certified clinical geneticist and internist with extensive experience in academic medicine, translational research, and genomic diagnostics leadership.
Most recently, Dr. Esplin served as Medical Officer at Invitae and later as Clinical Geneticist with Labcorp Genetics, where he led multidisciplinary teams conducting large-scale clinical trials and real-world evidence studies. He currently also serves as a Consulting Collaborator at Stanford University Medical Center, where he contributes to research focused on early tumorigenesis and cancer prevention.
Dr. Esplin earned his M.D./Ph.D. in Genetics and Development at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, completed his internal medicine residency there, and pursued fellowship training in Medical Genetics at Stanford University and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Genetics.
